Red Line 80W250 GL-5 Gear Oil
Red Line 80W250 GL-5 is a fully synthetic, ester-based transmission oil specifically developed for applications that fall under the SAE 250 viscosity grade. This oil is formulated for situations where a standard SAE 140 oil does not provide sufficient film strength and protection against extreme thermal and mechanical loads.
Within our product line, this oil serves as the direct, high-quality successor for heavily loaded motorsport differential systems where our specific 250R-grade oil was previously specified.
Technical Properties and Performance
Viscosity stability: Thanks to its polyolester base oils, the oil maintains its viscosity and film thickness at extremely high operating temperatures. The oil offers superior resistance to shear breakdown (viscosity loss due to mechanical friction).
Wear protection: Formulated with advanced Extreme Pressure (EP) additives to protect hypoid gears and bearings against scuffing and pitting under severe shock loads.
Limited-slip differential compatibility: The formula already contains the necessary friction modifiers for the proper operation of limited-slip differentials. This minimizes plate chatter and optimizes friction transfer without requiring any additional additives.
