The BMW E46 M3 / Z4M drive shafts are based on a tripod bearing instead of the original CV joint.
This is 1 complete driveshaft.
Advantages of the tripod driveshafts:
• Greater strength
• Less friction
• Lower temperature
• Easy to maintain, with replacement parts available (instead of having to replace the entire shaft, as with the original shafts)
- These shafts are less suitable for high stroke/long suspension travel, so they are more geared toward track use.
