Much needed on cars with more than standard M140i power. Then even on a street car it becomes very obvious that the original subframe bushings are too soft, and urethane inserts don't solve that.
With aluminum bushings you take a big step in stability, and wheel control. If the subframe moves under stress (which it can with rubber bushings), it pulls and turns on both wheels. With these alu bushings, that is no longer possible, and as an added plus, the subframe becomes an integral part of the chassis and helps strengthen it. (Just like the M2, M3 M4 F8x, they all have the subframe stands on steel attached to the chassis)
Note, aluminum bushings increase the chance of hearing noises from the wheels and diff.
