In Europe (Opel/Vauxhall).

In Opel, the F23 was often paired with the somewhat larger engines, such as the 2.2 liter gasoline (Z22SE) and the early 2.0 and 2.2 liter diesels.

• Opel Astra (G & H): Especially the 2.2 16V and the 2.0 Turbo (Z20LET) models.

• Opel Zafira (A & B): Used in the 2.2 gasoline and OPC versions.

Why is this transmission popular?

The F23 is known as one of GM's most reliable transmissions of the era. It can handle considerably more torque than its predecessors (up to about 230 Nm officially, but in practice often more), which makes it popular with tuners doing an engine swap with an Ecotec block or adding a turbo to a standard 2.2 block.
