QUAIFE locking differential

In practice, the Quaife ATB makes your car a faster street car, especially on challenging terrain.

On the track, installing the Quaife ATB differential leads to faster, more consistent lap times, with reduced front tire wear and an increased sense of involvement and control for the driver - essential factors on a model that is often used on the track and qualifies engine tuning work.

The Quaife torque limited slip differential auto-mechanically senses that one wheel is spinning harder than the other and corrects this with internal friction of the gears.

This reduces wheel slip without negative side effects.

For example, they are quiet, use standard oil and require no more maintenance than an open differential.

They are also great for road use, limiting torque steer in front-wheel-drive applications, for example.

Quaife ATB differentials are manufactured in the UK from quality-certified Tata steel billets and inspected to ISO9001-2008 standards.

The Quaife ATB differential is designed to operate using a proven, durable internal system of helical gears, meaning there are no plates, springs or other components that ever require maintenance or replacement.

The Quaife ATB differential is designed to use standard transmission oil and is covered by a lifetime limited warranty for both road and competition use.

For motorsport use, we recommend using a plate-type differential as they put power to the road better and provide better feedback.

In addition, a disadvantage of a torque lock is that there is no lock function when braking or when 1 wheel has no resistance such as on ice or wet grass.

The 12-bolt carrier was introduced with the 4MATIC+ system in 2018. The W222 S63 AMG 4MATIC+ (2018–2020) uses the 12-bolt. The pre-facelift W222 S63 AMG 4MATIC (2014–2017) uses the 16-bolt. If your S63 has the M157 5.5L V8, you need the 16-bolt. If it has the M177 4.0L V8, you need the 12-bolt.
