When servicing your ZF transmission, ZF recommends replacing your entire transmission pan and filter, as the pan is made of plastic. This plastic pan will undergo numerous drastic heat cycles over its lifetime, causing it to become weak and brittle, leading to a potentially catastrophic failure. This is not only dangerous, but also very expensive when you factor in regular services.
This plastick oil pan and filter kit costs about half as much as this pan, so at 2 changes, the savings are out.
