OS Superlock limited slip differential

- What kind of LSD is this?
It is a plate type lsd, which can be roughly compared to the ZF limited slip differentials as supplied in the BMW M3 E36, M4 GT4, Porsche 911 GT3RS or Nissan GTR, for example.

- Why is this differential more expensive than most torsen and used limited slip differentials?
This is a new limited slip differential, not a rebuild one. The best techniques and materials have been used, the disadvantages of a traditional and cheaper plate type LSD's have been resolved and the construction in more complex than a torsen.

- Is it comparable to a Quaife?
Partially. This LSD is also maintenance-free. However, much more is possible in terms of adjustment, the differential also locks with 1 wheel off the ground (unlike a Quaife) and it also locks during braking/deceleration. In addition, blocking action of up to 100% is possible, so more power can be transferred to the road surface. And there will be noticeably better stability in your car with an OS Giken where you can sometimes be unpleasantly surprised with a quaife. In addition, the superlock is very suitable for drifting and a Quaife is not the ideal solution.
The big advantage for the OS Giken being a plate type LSD is that it is controlled by throttle imputs and therefor directly connected to driver imputs, This makes for a confidence inspiring LSD where e-diffs, torsens, visco lsds and too softly setup differentials are very much depending on tyre grip changes which are hard to predict for the driver.

- What is OS Giken?
OS Giken is a high-tech originally Japanese company that specializes in tuning engines and supplies high-quality clutches, differentials and gearboxes, among other things. It is very famous in Asia and America, in Europe mainly for Asian brands such as Nissan.

- Why this limited slip differential?
Design can handle more power
Locking effect up to 100%, but without the disadvantages that normally occur with 100% blocking effect
No maintenance required, the plates hardly wear out. There are racing teams that have been driving the diff for 10 years without any problems and have only changed the oil.

Adjustable acceleration/deceleration locking action
Due to the setup possibilities and the 100% lock you can expect better lap times or more controllable drifts. The differential can also be adjusted in such a way that it can be driven on public roads. It will have the benefits of an open differential at slow speeds, and the grip of a racing limited slip differential when you step on it.

Central springs / negative preload (yellow box drawing)
The big technical advantage for the Superlock lies in the central springs that pull the pressure rings (which create the pressure on the clutch plates ) AGAINST each other. In fact, these springs ensure that there is little locking effect when driving slowly, parking, or steering in (braking). When accelerating, this spring force will be overcome, and the differential will lock.

The differential has been proven by professional teams around the world in rally, racing and drifting. We support customers in europe with Ring records, endurance racing, drifting and rally championships

An OS Giken limited slip differential guarantees better stability and grip for any type of car. Rear-wheel drive, front-wheel drive, four-wheel drive. Engine rear, front or center, we help you determine the right configuration.

You can always inquire about the possibilities without obligation, and we are also happy to answer any questions about the Superlock.

The OS Superlock is available for almost every sporting brand: Acura Alfa Romeo Audi BMW Chevrolet Chrysler Dodge Ferrari Ford Honda Hyundai Infiniti Lexus Lotus Mazda Mercedes Benz Mini Mitsubishi Nissan Porsche Scion Subaru Toyota Volvo

Porsche models with G97 gearbox.

The G97 gearbox, produced by Getrag, is a manual gearbox that was primarily used in Porsche 911 models of the 996 and 997 generations, particularly in the high-performance Turbo and GT models. The G97 was a 6-speed transmission designed to handle the higher power and torque of these models. Below is a listing of the Porsche models that used the G97 gearbox as standard, based on factory specifications.

ModelYearNotes
Porsche 911 (996) Turbo2001-20056-speed (G97/50); used in AWD Turbo models.
Porsche 911 (996) GT22001-20056-speed (G97/90); reinforced version for the GT2.
Porsche 911 (997) Turbo2006-20126-speed (G97/51, G97/52); used in AWD Turbo models.
Porsche 911 (997) GT22007-20126-speed (G97/90); specifically for the high-performance GT2.
Porsche 911 (997) GT32006-20116-speed (G97/96, G97/97); used in the GT3 and GT3 RS.

Notes:

  • The G97 gearbox was designed for high-performance models, such as the Turbo, GT2 and GT3, and was suitable for both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD).
  • Specific variants such as G97/50 and G97/90 were adapted for the extreme torque of the Turbo and GT2, while the G97/96 and G97/97 were optimized for track-oriented GT3 models.

Porsche models with G64 gearbox.

The G64 gearbox is a variant of the G50, developed specifically for all-wheel-drive (AWD) Porsche 911 models, such as the Carrera 4. This gearbox was used to manage the drive forces of the AWD system and was a 5- or 6-speed transmission manufactured by Getrag. Below is a listing of the Porsche models that used the G64 gearbox as standard, based on factory specifications.

ModelYearNotes
Porsche 911 (964) Carrera 41989-19945-speed (G64/00, G64/01); used in AWD Carrera 4 models.
Porsche 911 (993) Carrera 41995-19986-speed (G64/20, G64/21, G64/51, G64/52); AWD variant with improved shifting performance.
Porsche 911 (993) Turbo1995-19986-speed (G64/50, G64/51); used in the Turbo with AWD.

Notes:

  • The G64 was specifically used in all-wheel-drive 911 models, unlike the G50, which was primarily rear-wheel-drive (RWD).
  • Variants such as the G64/50 and G64/51 in the 993 Turbo were reinforced to handle the higher torque of the turbo engines.

Porsche models with G50 gearboxes.

The G50 gearbox (produced by Getrag) was mainly used in various Porsche 911 models from the late 1980s to the late 1990s. It was a 5-speed transmission (later also 6-speed) that replaced the older 915 for better shifting performance and durability. Below is a list of the major models that used the G50 as standard (including variants such as Carrera 2, Carrera 4 and Turbo). Note that these are original factory versions; conversions to G50 in older models are popular but not original.
