The OS extended rear differential cover is made of cast aluminum and is designed to help with additional fluid capacity. (NOTE this is only for the Mazda Mx5 ND 1.5)
The standard capacity is 0.6 liters of differential fluid and has proven inadequate for heavy use, leading to frequent fluid changes. Effectively doubling the fluid capacity has proven to extend the fluid change interval and will help improve the long-term health of the internal components of the differential, as well as the associated bearings and seals.
The cover is dimensionally identical to the OEM unit for accurate fitment and maintaining OEM side bearing tolerance. It also has additional ports to facilitate installation of a differential cooler, as well as a temperature sensor for data acquisition.
-Increases total fluid capacity to 1.2L compared to the OEM cover of 0.6L
-Includes (2) 3/8-NPT port plugs
-Includes (1) 1/8-NPT port plugs
-Remains drain/fill bolts and top vent from OEM cover
-Factory fasteners are reused.
-Direct installation for OS Giken LSDs. No need to grind down the oem cover a bit to install a barrier
