SCROLL DOWN FOR ENGLISH

Complete limited slip differential for the 520i-m550D and 6 series. The price includes trade-in of the original differential. Assembly is possible at an additional cost.

The differential has been completely overhauled and fitted with new bearings, oil seals and a new OS Giken Superlock locking bell. This is the best limited slip differential available for these cars.No more one tire fire!

For example the 535i, 550i, M550D, 640i,  are very fast cars. Unfortunately, BMW has chosen to keep the distance to the M5 and M6 artificially high, in particular by omitting a limited slip differential.

What is the disadvantage of driving without a Limited slip differential?
Power is directed to the wheel with the least grip. So if you put 1 wheel on snow and you accelerate, the wheel will slip on the snow. Even when you drive the car sportily and take turns, one of the rear wheels will always be less well pressed on the road by the steering movements, this wheel will always slip under power.

And what does the limited slip differential fix that problem?
The limited slip differential allows power to be sent to both wheels. So instead of one wheel slipping you will now accelerate faster because the wheel that is pushed to the road the better of the two is also driven.

But I don't need every to drift into a corner.
That's not the idea. A good limited slip differential provides a lot of extra grip, so the rear is less likely to break out. Drifting is not a goal in racing, but a limited slip differential is a huge advantage and makes the car much faster and more controllable.

Why do drifters want a limited slip differential?< br /> There is more grip with a lock, but if you still give too much gas and the car goes into a drift, it is better to control. So initially there is more grip, and if this is deliberately exceeded, drifting is more possible.

What is the difference in practice with two identical cars? , one with a limited slip differential and the other without?
Suppose these cars follow each other on winding roads, then the car with the lock will be able to go faster through the bends and always exit the corner on grip driving away from the car without a lock. Even when launching from a standstill, the car with the lock has more traction and therefore accelerates faster.

What is the first experience of customers after installation?
What people actually always mentions that the car suddenly has much more grip and therefore feels much better. Drift is also easier to control, and it is not a swashbuckling feeling as it often feels with an open (non-locking) differential.

Will I get any complaints with my electronics?
No, the car 'sees' not that you have a limited slip differential and will simply detect less slip at the rear wheels. It does not cause any problems with traction control or DSC/ESP.

Won't I get complaints with my leasing company?
No, there is nothing to worry about from the outside see.

Are there any disadvantages with quiet driving, such as noise or banging?
During the first few hundred kilometers during the break-in, the limited slip differential can sometimes be a bit sulky , but this will disappear on its own and it will feel no different when driving calmly than without a limited slip differential.

What's the downside of driving without a limited slip differential?
The power goes to the wheel with the least grip. When you apply the throttle with one wheel on snow, that wheel will spin. Also if you drive it fast and take corners, one of the wheels will have less pressure on the road because of the steering. This wheel will always slip under power.

And what does the limited slip differential do about that problem?
The LSD ensures that the power is transmitted to both wheels. So you will now accelerate harder instead of slipping one wheel, because the wheel that is pushed to the ground is also driven.

But I do not drift every turn..
That's not the idea. A good LSD ensures the best grip, so it's less likely to oversteer (unintentional drifting). In motorsport drifting is not a goal, but a limited slip differential will give a huge advantage because it makes the car much faster and more controllable.

Why do drifters always use a limited slip differential?< /strong>
There is more grip with an lsd, but when you intentionally keep pushing the throttle the car will eventually get into a drift. So initially there is more grip, and if you go beyond this grip deliberately drifting is more controllable.

What is the difference in reality with the same two cars, one with LSD and the other without?
Suppose these cars riding tandem on winding roads, the car with LSD will have higher cornering speeds and drive away from the car without LSD. Even with a launch from standstill or hard accelerating when overtaking someone, the car will have more grip and will accelerate faster.

What is the first experience of customers after installation?
What they actually always mention is that the car suddenly has a lot more grip and therefore feels much better. Also, a drift is easier to control, and the back of the car doesn’t feel that loose anymore.

Won’t I get issues with my electronics?
No, the car doesn't "see" that you have a limited slip differential and will simply detect less slip on the rear wheels. It does not cause problems with traction control and DSC / ESP.

Will I get complaints from my leasing company?
No, there is nothing to see from the outside .

Are there quiet ride drawbacks such as noise or banging?
The first few hundred kilometers the limited slip differential can sometimes be somewhat rough (little squeaks), but this will disappear and you won't feel the LSD anymore when driving quietly. When driving fast you won't hear it either, but you will have the mentioned benefits.
